Swiper, no swiping!!!

My sister had quite a scare last night as she drove home.

She was somewhere along Araneta Avenue waiting for the light to turn green again. All of a sudden, two men with heads covered by t-shirts, came near the car and went to both sides of her Ford Escape. She thought they were going to try to open her doors, and was relieved to see that her doors were locked. The thieves pulled her side mirrors out. There was nothing she could do.

Good thing those mirrors were insured. Thousands of pesos would have been spent to reinstall those.

Why do people steal side mirrors? How much do they get out of it? I'm really curious. My dad said they're cheap...

Now my dad's all paranoid and doesn't want any of us to pass by Araneta...

Oh, does anyone know where I can buy an LCD projector lamp/bulb replacement? My mom has asked me to canvass. The brand is BenQ. Send me a message if you have any ideas! Thanks in advance. :)

people steal side mirrors because there's a demand for them. since maraming nananakawan ng mga `to (the story you narrated happens more often as you get nearer to the banawe area; i've seen this happen to a civic in front of me on my way to chua's place one fine morning, akala ko nga ako na `yung next). it's cheaper in the long run to get surplus side mirrors than have insurance cover it. since mura lang sila as surplus, it's also easier for those who steal them to sell also for a few hundred bucks. see the cycle now? it's actually possible that you buy the ones stolen from you if magpahanap ka there hahaha

of course, from a magnanakaw's point of view, it's also more difficult to get rid of jaguar or ferrari side mirrors :)

Yah, a while ago they were discussing it. Over a thousand bucks through insurance. They asked around at Banawe, I think around 500 bucks or so? Something. Anyway, they decided to have it na lang reinstalled at the Ford place mismo kasi 750 lang daw or something. They don't want to end up supporting the system daw. Oh-kay...

Apparently they target female drivers who are alone, and they grab the side mirrors right when the light's about to turn green.

I hear of a lot of people having their plate numbers etched into their side mirrors.

So are you telling me to get a Jag? Rich ha. Hehe. I want a Jimny or a Swift! But I think a Jimny would be preferred given that I live in the lowlands. Lol.
