attack of the birthmonth

Wow, December is really breezing by... My brother will be arriving from the US of A today, and just around the corner, happy birthday to me! I'm turning 27. Gawd, I'm old. Good thing I don't look it. HEHEHE!

The other day I was chatting with a fellow Decemberian (Is there even such a term?) and she mentioned an interesting theory of hers that most people don't mature much after they turn 18. I think that it makes a lot of sense, because some people never seem to change! I suppose that what separates those who still continue to mature and those who stagnate is the ability to look back and really try to understand what their experiences have taught them - as well as move on from the painful ones.

Thought for the Day: Not all friends are worth keeping, but the ones who are will always be there for you, PMS or not (even when you're not trying to keep them - :P).

maturity is a result of exprience and depth of experience. naturally, the more experience you have, the more mature you're expected to be. but, even with so much experience, if there is no depth in that experience - no valuation, no understanding, no discernment, so to speak, as to how that relates to life in general - then the person does not become mature. this explains why some people can be "beyond their years."

this also brings to mind people who always use "matured" i.e. "he's a matured guy", when obviously adjectives do not have past tense.

now that brings to mind people who say "cope up with" when instead they could have just said "cope with".

anyway, pet peeve.

What's your take on Dakota Fanning? I really think she's a reincarnation of someone else. When she talks, she really sounds like an old person.

But isn't it okay to say a person has matured a lot over the years? But yeah, "matured guy" is wrong... as with "coping up" with one's pain.

It's almost Christmas!
